Honda Cars in India

The cars manufactured by the Japanese carmaker Honda Motors are well known for producing reliable and feature-loaded vehicles. Apart from manufacturing four-wheelers, they also cater to two-wheeler-oriented buyers. They are doing well in the two-wheeler market as well. Besides that, if you plan to purchase one of the Honda cars this article could come in handy. So, below are a few vehicles that are or have been bestsellers in their time. The curated list is at an ascending price.

Let’s begin!

Honda Amaze:

The name already speaks for itself, and customers are well aware that this subcompact sedan is one of the bestsellers in the country. Statistically, it is the second-most-selling sedan in its segment.

As for the Honda Amaze specifications, it is available with a 1.2-litre petrol that produces 88bhp and 110Nm of torque. It also caters to diesel buyers since it gets a 1.5-litre diesel engine, capable of producing 98bhp and 200Nm of torque. Both are available with a standard five-speed manual and an optional CVT. Keep in mind that the diesel-CVT combination will return a slightly lower rate of engine output, making it 78bhp and 160Nm of torque.

The base model of the Honda, the E MT 1.2 Petrol, is priced at Rs 6.56 lakh and goes up to Rs 11.39 lakh for the top model, the VX CVT 1.5 Diesel. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi, as of July 2022.

Honda Jazz:

When this hatchback debuted in the Indian market, it performed pretty well in its segment. But in recent years, the sales of the Honda Jazz haven’t been up to the mark. It is also slightly pricier than the Honda Amaze. Several price hikes, the space it offers, comparatively fewer new-age features, and other factors led to the declining sales of the Honda Jazz. However, the picture could have been different today if it had had a competitive price.

However, as of July 2022, the Honda Jazz’s price starts at Rs 7.90 lakh for the base model, the V MT Petrol, and goes up to Rs 10.21 lakh for the top-model, the ZX CVT Petrol. All are ex-showroom prices.

Yes, it is solely available with a petrol engine. The Honda Jazz gets a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 88bhp and 110Nm of torque, paired with a standard five-speed manual gearbox and an optional seven-speed CVT.

Honda WR-V:

The Honda WRV-V is a sub-compact crossover SUV in India, which is also on sale in a few international markets. It’s been a long time for a big update, and that said, the 2022 iteration of the Honda WR-V’s spy shots has already created a buzz on the web. Furthermore, as for the pricing, the ongoing model of the Honda WR-V starts at Rs 8.99 lakh for the base model, the SV MT Petrol. And it goes up to Rs 12.20 lakh for the top model, the VX MT Diesel. All prices are Delhi ex-showroom prices as of July 2022.

And as for the engine options, they are available in petrol and diesel units. The 1.2-litre petrol unit churns out 88bhp and 110Nm of torque, while the 1.5-litre diesel unit has 98bhp and 200Nm of torque. Both come exclusively with a five-speed and a six-speed manual in petrol and diesel engines, respectively.

The Honda WR-V directly rivals the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and the Tata Nexon, to name a few.

Honda City 4th Generation:

The fourth-generation Honda City is still on sale in the Indian market, despite the introduction of the fifth generation.

This generation is available with the latest generation. That means the customer can either choose the fourth generation or the fifth generation Honda City. The City is one of the popular Honda cars in India. To differentiate the fourth-gen from the fifth-gen, you’ll notice a few cut-down features and variants that were there before. Despite that, the fourth-generation Honda City is still in demand.

However, the carmaker has ditched the diesel engine and the CVT option. It only gets a 1.5-litre petrol engine, capable of producing 117bhp and 145Nm of torque, paired exclusively with a five-speed manual transmission.

And as for the fourth-gen Honda City variants, there are only two options: SV and V.

Moreover, the Honda City SV MT Petrol has a price tag of Rs 9.49 lakh, and the second option, the V MT Petrol, has a price tag of Rs 9.99 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). These prices are as of July 2022.

The Honda City 5th-Generation:

The fifth-generation Honda City is a feature-loaded vehicle and looks more premium than before. Overall, it has an elevated sense of design, especially the top model.

The top model of the Honda City looks stylish with its all-LED lights, 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, and ambient lighting, to name a few.

Moreover, as for specifications, the fifth-generation Honda City is available with petrol and diesel engines. The 1.5-litre petrol unit produces 119bhp and 145Nm of torque, while the 1.5-litre diesel produces 98bhp and 200Nm of torque. The petrol unit is available with a six-speed manual gearbox and an optional 7-step CVT. And the diesel unit has only a six-speed manual gearbox.

Besides that, the new Honda City has three trims: V, VX, and ZX. And, if you are looking for a hybrid motor, then the e-HEV is available. The hybrid-powered Honda City is exclusive to the ZX trim. Speaking of powertrains, the Honda City’s mileage (ARAI-claimed) ranges between 17.8 kmpl and 26.5 kmpl. Please note that the mileage depends upon the combination of engine and transmission.

As for the pricing, the fifth-gen Honda City’s price starts at Rs 11.46 lakh for the base model, the V MT Petrol. And it goes up to Rs 15.41 lakh for the top model, the ZX MT Diesel.

The top-spec City Hybrid’s price is Rs 19.49 lakh.

So, these are a few cars that you can consider purchasing. They offer all body types. If you want a sedan, consider the Honda City, and for a hatchback, it’s the Jazz. For a premium sub-four-metre sedan, it’s the Honda Amaze. However, several upcoming Honda cars will launch, maybe this year or later.
